The pipeline positions in Hilo are managed manually by the user. The only time the system will change a contact's pipeline position is when the contact is in the Not Contacted pipeline position and the first reach out is logged for that contact. For example:
The contact Jane Smith is in the Not Contacted pipeline position because the user, Karen, has not spoken with Jane about her products or business opportunity. Once Karen logs a reach out for Jane, the system will automatically move Jane to the Contacted pipeline position. The reason for this automatic movement is that the assumption can be made that Karen has spoken with Jane about her products or business opportunity based on her deliberately logging a reach out for her.
The only exception to this automatic movement is Bulk Emails. Bulk Emails are mostly used to send general sale information or newsletters. This is not a reliable indicator of whether the user has spoken with a contact specifically about their business. For this reason, Hilo WILL NOT automatically move a contact from the Not Contacted to Contacted pipeline position after a bulk email is sent. However, a single email WILL trigger the automatic movement.
If you send a bulk email and would like to change the pipeline position for multiple contacts you can easily do so by performing a Bulk Update. Please see the following article for step-by-step instructions on completing a Bulk Update:
